The galley lantern (painted)
A spare and elegant lantern – our reworking of a 1930s gas-lit street lantern by W. Parkinson & Co, England.
For years I bought and sold every original Parkinson lantern I could find. There were a huge number of other lantern-making firms established throughout the nineteenth century – helping to illuminate the new streets and stations of the Industrial Revolution, but none of them had the restrained architecture of the Parkinson design, which appears to be a wonderful embodiment of Arts and Crafts, Modernism and wartime restraint.
Our galley lanterns are made in our Stamford workshops, available in three sizes, with either a single bulb or a 4-way bulb configuration, and can be glazed with clear, opal or seeded glass.
The galley lantern can be wired to UK/US or other international standards as required.
Each galley lantern will arrive with a 120mm diameter brass ceiling canopy and a metre of brass chain or rod, patinated to your chosen finish.
The current lead time for a galley lantern is 12 weeks from receipt of full payment and size/finish confirmation.
Also available in our brass finishes here.
