Commissioning

How to commission a made to measure piece from us.

If you'd like samples first, please order from our finish library.

1. Getting Started

You can get in touch with us by phone, email or through the website and we'll respond within one working day. We'll explore design options, dimensions, material, finish, intended use and access. If you'd like samples first, you can order them from our finish library.

2. Design & quote

We work with you to refine the details and provide a clear quote with a lead time, or a proposal, if the brief is more complex. The more we understand about a space and how it's lived in, the better the piece we can make for it. Matthew, our creative director, and Greg, our creative development lead, are consulted at this stage. Delivery can be scoped at this point too.

3. Approval & scheduling

We draw made to measure and bespoke pieces in 2D and provide renders. We also send a hand-finished sample before any work begins. Only when drawings, samples and payment are confirmed do we brief the workshop.

4. Making & delivery

Your piece is made and finished with care in our Stamford workshops. Quality is considered at every stage from the selection of materials to the techniques employed. Before leaving us, we'll send a photograph and a care guide for each piece. Delivery is arranged and confirmed as completion approaches.

5. Aftercare & longevity

Every piece is supported beyond delivery through our RE-MC programme: care, repair, restoration, resale, and if the time ever comes, responsible recycling or reclamation.

“Living in tandem with the natural world was, until very recently, second nature. The materials we work with carry that history. When a piece is made to measure in timber, brass or stone, it brings something of that world into a space permanently. That's why we feel such a responsibility to ensure it has every chance of enduring, in the way it works, and in the way it looks.”
