The orderly shelves

An endlessly customisable solid wood shelving system that plays with major design-era motifs.

Tell us your preferred size, shape, scale, profile, timber and finish, and we will hand-make your ideal set of shelves.

We can make the shelves in oiled oak (any of our oak finishes), sycamore, elm, ash, chestnut or walnut. We can also hand-paint them.

The lead time for a set of orderly shelves is 6-12 weeks. 

We make the shelves to measure in our Stamford workshop.

Our shelf design began with the primitive, vernacular kitchen rack. The kind used for centuries to store candles, spices and spoons. We deconstructed the components and blew them up in scale, so the design could work in any configuration - from a single shelf to a unit for an entire wall, and anything in between. 

To work for all purposes, we make the shelving in two sizes, one 50% bigger than the other. You pay per bracket and by length of shelf, as illustrated by the drawing below.

There are five distinct profiles to choose from - each a motif borrowed from a major design era; primitive ‘hollow’ whose clean lines feel contemporary, romantic 'cusp' a spiritual wave to towering gothic, classical 'corbel' embodying the power of The Renaissance, angular 'quirk' encapsulating the confidence of Art Deco, and Post-Modern 'beak' symbolic of late 20th century subversion.

Once we have your ideal dimensions, shape, scale, bracket profile, timber species and finish, we will send you a drawing and a quote for your shelves. As soon as you've confirmed your order, we'll place your shelves into our workshop schedule send you an estimated completion date.
