Oak | worn ebony (ink)

An ebony surface with a softer shine than our lacquered ebony finish, and better resistance to hot and wet vessels - which makes it our preferred black for dining tables.

We create the finish by brushing Indian ink over a background of russet-coloured dye, before gently distressing the black surface, and rubbing-in a blend of naturally-derived oils and waxes. This gives a certain level of protection, while still allowing the timber to evolve and develop a rich patina.

The natural finishes we use are industry standard, but not impervious to marking. We design our surfaces to gently evolve with time and use, so they acquire the rich colour and patina we find on the most valued antiques.
