Oak | worn ebony (lacquer)

A distressed, traditional black lacquer that glistens and glows and looks especially enchanting with glass.

In the 19th century, black lacquer was used on common timbers and veneers to simulate ebony on museum and shop furniture, but now after decades of daily use, many of these pieces have developed rich patinas – wondrous compositions of warm, glowing timber and crazed, worn shellac.
